Restricted Invertibility and the Banach-mazur Distance to the Cube
We prove a normalized version of the restricted invertibility principle obtained by Spielman-Srivastava in [15]. Applying this result, we get a new proof of the proportional Dvoretzky-Rogers factorization theorem recovering the best current estimate in the symmetric setting while we improve the best known result in the nonsymmetric case. As a consequence, we slightly improve the estimate for th...
متن کاملRandomized Isomorphic Dvoretzky Theorem
Let K be a symmetric convex body in IR for which B 2 is the ellipsoid of minimal volume. We provide estimates for the geometric distance of a “typical” rank n projection of K to B 2 , for 1 ≤ n < N . Known examples show that the resulting estimates are optimal (up to numerical constants) even for the Banach–Mazur distance. Résumé French title here Soit K un corps convexe symétrique de IR dont l...
متن کاملA Chaos-Based Communication Scheme Using Proportional and Proportional-Integral Observers
In this paper, we propose a new chaos-based communication scheme using the observers. The novelty lies in the masking procedure that is employed to hide the confidential information using the chaotic oscillator. We use a combination of the addition and inclusion methods to mask the information. The performance of two observers, the proportional observer (P-observer) and the proportional integra...
متن کامل"Rogers" Seven-Day-Fever
Sik,?It was with great interest that I read in J01'1 issue Colonel Wimberley's article on the out iea Dengue-like fever amongst the 15tli Sikhs, It struck me that if there is a differential diagnosis a < between ' Breakbone Dengue ' and the Seven-Day I e\ei c cribed by Major Leonard Rogers?then these interesting cases must fall under the latter heading?and this, in spi e the fact that the fever...
متن کاملA Determinant Identity that Implies Rogers-Ramanujan
We give a combinatorial proof of a general determinant identity for associated polynomials. This determinant identity, Theorem 2.2, gives rise to new polynomial generalizations of known Rogers-Ramanujan type identities. Several examples of new Rogers-Ramanujan type identities are given.
